The Inflation Reduction Act is wreaking havoc on every aspect of Medicare 2025.
In this video I discuss the action CMS / Medicare is trying to take, how poorly thought out it is, how it is not legal and I believe will have significant and harmfull unintended consequences.

    I am 64 and will be under Medicare very soon. I went to the VA and there was a large insurance company (don't know that I can say their name) that was selling their "Heroes" Advantage Plan. I was confused because the agent insisted that his company processes TriCare and it was basically the same thing. In addition I would get dental care and $75 in my pocket every month. This same company was in the Keesler AFB Commissary selling the same Advantage Plan. Initially the agent said they worked with TriCare, so I thought they were Tricare. When I pressed them for answers, they admitted that they actually worked for a large insurance agency. Again, the same promises of increased benefits, and the claim that they actually handle TriCare claims. I think that I will be keeping my TriCare For Life. I really appreciate your honesty. Thank you.

      I am glad you made the right decision. His comment "...his company processes TriCare and it was basically the same thing.' is 100% false. That company is marketing this stuff hard because of what they get out of it. Not what you get. Keep in mind, whenever you see an agent at a store, the VA or wherever, these are rookie agents with limited knowledge and no real experience. An established agent would never spend their time in such places hoping for business. This is why I made this video.

Of course this applies only to people with expensive drugs like me.

    • @MedigapSeminars
      @MedigapSeminars 3 дня назад

      That is true. The maimum out of pocket helps about 1.5 million people out of the 30 million plus on Medicare. What people have not yet seen isn't just the premium. It's the fact that the number of Part D plans will shrink by at least 30%, the extra benefits in Advantage plans and the number of Advantage plans will decline considerably. There will be less competition and higher costs for everyone.

    To anyone thinking of using Matt's company to help guide them in their Medicare decisions, but perhaps hesitant now due to differences of opinion politically: I may not agree with every single thing he says, but I have no regrets about having him and his agents at Medigap Seminars guide me in my Medicare choices. I have been happy with my supplement plan company, which I seriously doubt I would have found by myself, and PartDShopper has been helpful and easily navigated each year. I have always been treated with patience, respect, and compassion by everyone I have interacted with at Medigap Seminars. If I had to agree about everything with everyone I do any sort of business with (not that I had to pay MS anything), life would be more complicated than it needs to be. Matt is a fine agent and extremely knowledgeable in the confusing maze that is Medicare. I don't mean for this to sound like an ad, and no one asked me to post anything. I'm certainly not being paid. (I wish! lol) Even when it comes to some of my own friends and family, we sometimes have to agree to disagree and even avoid certain topics to preserve the peace because we still care about each other. Most of us regular humans are doing the best we know how, and differing life experiences can lead to differences of opinion. That's all I wanted to say.

      Off topic, but my LDL is also a little high. There are some studies that say having LDL that's elevated a little means you'll live longer. Who knows? Maybe you can find a functional MD who is not dictated to by Big Pharma. Best to you.

    • @MatthewClaassenCMT
      @MatthewClaassenCMT 3 дня назад

      Well, my opinion on this and I am not a doctor is to perhaps research this a little bit further. Below is the link to start your process. Statins, cholesterol, lowering drugs, are known for very serious and life-changing side effects. And truth is that lowering cholesterol may lower your risk of heart disease, but it increases your risk of all cause mortality. in other words, you might not die of heart disease, but you’re much more likely to die of a stroke, cancer etc. This goes to the root problem that we have with healthcare costs. Doctors are taught to prescribe drugs and not taught to solve problems. Many studies show that LDL cholesterol is a non-event. But there are no drugs that can increase your HDL. That comes from lifestyle and food. So big Pharma has tried to change the argument that your health is dependent on LDL cholesterol when that is simply not supported by science. www.nature.com/articles/s41598-018-38461-y

    So the pharmaceutical industry wants to price gouge. What do you know? If you’re overseas the same drugs cost hardly anything.

    • @ruthgirl
      @ruthgirl 3 дня назад

      You obviously are clueless where the money comes from to conduct research and get new drugs approved for the market. Drugs cost less overseas because those governments have imposed price controls. However, it costs billions to bring a new medication to market in research, development, testing and approval. That money must come from somewhere. Drugs companies get it from the American consumer while the drug is under patent, because we have a free market system. Imposing European style price fixing on pharmaceuticals will cause research into new Drugs and medical devices to completely halt. So the choice would be to have cheap prices on the Drugs we have currently and NO NEW Drugs in the future or pay for research. You may say that the government will just fund the research, but WE are the government and the tax payers provide the funds, so if we want new treatments we have to pay one way or another. I prefer medicine to advance and not stagnate. What Europe is doing with cheap drug prices is the same as what they do with their defense budgets, they don't pay their fair share which cause the American taxpayer to bear the burden all the while touting they give great healthcare at a low cost to their citizens. We Americans have been footing the bill for them for decades. They have been able to direct their high taxes mainly to social programs because we cover the cost of their defense.

    Thanks for the chart. I viewed this last year but its nice to have it back and saved now. I plan on getting a medigap supplemental but it won't be at my initial enrollement time for medicare because I plan on postponing medicare for almost 2 years and am going to bite the 17.00 more a month penalty. The higher yearly deductible is not that much higher for 2 years so that doesn't bother me either. Based off of what I read is if I do postpone medicare I will give up ( I forgot the title to it) but where I would automatically be entitled to a medigap policy without any screening. I think if I postpone medicare for almost 2 years and then I want to get a medigap policy I might then have to go through some screening. That's ok since I don't have any preexisting conditions but I'm not sure how their screenings work. I also have to make sure I stay healthy just so my screening will be still good. Not sure how all of that works but I seem to have a good enough grasp on all this medicare stuff for the most part anyway....

    Politics aside, from what the resource links, it seems to me that caping the OOP from $8,000 to $2,000 is the significant lever here in raising the "front end" premiums? So, if a plan participant (like me), never gets to even an initial deductible level (lucky to not have serious health issues, and uses mostly generic drugs bought cheaper through GoodRX , etc.) I am stuck with higher premiums for buying limited plan I legally must have. But other participants that need expensive drugs for their medical condition and have met the deductible and perhaps the current $8,000 cap, will pay less in Annual costs. Is that correct Matthew?

      My business is highly regulated by the US Government. Any action by any party that harms Medicare will get the same reaction by me. If you listen carefully, this video is anti- Inflation Reductiona Act and anti beauracracy creating laws. That's it. Those who have interpreted this as anything else are projecting their own beliefes.

    While your video does a service to inform viewers as what is coming, the real problem is high prescription drug prices and the insurance monopoly on the drug coverage process. I put way more faith in the Harris ticket in going after the price gouging of the insurance and pharmaceutical industry that I have in a replay of another administration funneling wealth into the pockets of the billionaires. The insurance industry hijacked the affordable care act and it is now set do do the same for the inflation reduction act. And the last thing we need to do is demonize those with the intention to keep fighting for the consumer.
